Hello London! Day 14 Adventures
Day Fourteen: Living Like Locals in London
Hello, fellow adventurers! Our second day in London was all about experiencing the city like a true Londoner. This isn't our first time here, but visiting outside the holiday season gave us a new perspective on everyday life in this bustling metropolis.

We started our day with a visit to the Paddington Recreation Grounds. Let me tell you, the parks here—and in Paris—are on another level compared to those in the US! The Paddington Recreation Grounds were full of life. We saw people enjoying the rose gardens, playing cricket, running, exercising outdoors, walking their dogs, and even little kids having their daily exercise. It was so refreshing to see everyone using the park and appreciating the shared space. In contrast to many American parks, which can often feel empty because everyone has their own private space, the parks here bring people together. This sense of community is something we've come to admire in both Paris and London.
After our workout and a refreshing shower, we embarked on an hour-long walk from Maida Vale to Harrods. The walk was lovely, and Harrods felt different this time—less crowded, allowing us to truly enjoy browsing through all the luxurious goodies. We tried the new Gymkhana food stall, which was delicious, though a bit odd as there was no place to sit and eat inside. We had to take our food outside, which was a bit inconvenient, but the food was tasty nonetheless. We definitely prefer the sit-down experience of a restaurant, though.
Next, we strolled over to The Seafood Bar for oyster happy hour—an absolute treat! Afterward, we made a pit stop at Mr. Fogg's for mid-afternoon drinks. The quirky, Victorian-inspired decor added a fun twist to our day. We wrapped up our culinary adventure with dinner at Arcade, indulging in even more delightful eats.
In just our first full day back in London, we've already enjoyed so much good food! I don't think local Londoners eat this much in one day, but we couldn't help ourselves. We'll have to do better at pacing ourselves and living like locals tomorrow!
We've missed London and are thrilled to be back. Stay tuned for more adventures as we continue to explore and experience this amazing city.
Cheers,
